Telford Hotel & Golf Resort
Captain's Log
CAPTAIN: Trevor Allsopp
As Captain at Telford Golf and Spa Hotel I can report an excellent year of progress. QHotel’s Management and staff have worked hard to ensure their golf members have enjoyed the great facilities open to them. The course under Matt Robbins has come on in major leaps and bounds and the greens and course definition are something we are all proud of - good courses breed good golf. This year Telford just failed at the last hurdle to win the Shropshire and Herefordshire counties handicap league but next time we intend to win!
The Q cup this year was won by Telford on their home course, but can we successfully defend it next year at the picturesque Hellidon Lakes? What ever happens, the bond between the QHotel Golf and Spa, Telford and its Golf members will continue to grow.
Greenkeeper's Log: Matt Robbins
The greens were hollow tined, top dressed and over seeded with a bent and fescue mix in the month of march. The benefit of this work was much enjoyed by all the Q Golf Hotels at the recently held Q Cup.
In July scarifying and top-dressing of the greens will take place. In the month of September we will be deep scarifying and sand injecting using the garden machine, we will again be over-seeding with a bent and fescue mix. This work is vital to us creating an all year round good putting surface. The long term weather forecast for the summer months is very positive, so fingers crossed!
We recently removed some of the planting around the 18th green so that you will be able to admire your fellow member’s three putts from the comfort of the Clubhouse Bar.
